Life Care (http://www.lifecare-bio.ro/) activates in the commerce of BIO products and cosmetics. The companys commercial mechanism comes from sales via internet (eshop) but also from direct salesand they needed a Warehouse Management System solution which would help them manage every day their orders with speed and without errors, to have always the correct quantites in the picking locations for the orders execution, to manage correctly their inventory and their receptions but also to have a connection with their backoffice system, Microsoft Navision, the Vision eshop but also with the API web based application of the 4 different systems of the courier companies that they collaborate with for the orders distribution. So, they chose the modules Receptions, Internal Handlings, Replenishment, Picking, Packing, Docking and Inventory of PocketBiz Warehouse to manage their warehouse with the total 17 users. The users by having in their Intermec CK3 terminals the modules Receptions, Internal Handlings, Replenishment and Inventory thet can have the correct info about what they have to receive from their suppliers (connection with Navision), and to input the quantities received physically. Moreover, with the modules of Internal Handlings and Inventory, they have the right image about the quantites of each product at every location in the warehouse. Finally, by using the Replenishment module and based on an algorithm that calculates based on a forecast the orders and quantities of each product per day and also the quantites at each moment at the picking positions, the users make replenishment from the stock locations so that there is always teh correct stock and not to lose valuable time during the execution of the orders.
Because of the kind of the products (cosmetics), the picking/packing/docking had to be done by fixed terminals and with the usage of fixed barcode scanners. All the needed configuration was made so that these procedures to be operated by the PocketBiz Desktop tool. The users of picking desktop have always in their screen the orders and they see the correct picking location that they have to go and pick the next product for the orders and by scanning it the lines "dissapears". After the completion of the picking, the orders go to another desktop terminals where PocketBiz Desktop has been configured for the packing but also to communication with the web based systems of the courier companies, where in real time, the correct label template is sent back with the barcode so that its printed and be put on the pack of the order. Finally in the last stage of the order, by using again PocketBiz Desktop they palletize the orders per route and they are placed at the exit where the corresponding courrier will come to pick it.

ASK-IT (www.ask-it.org) is an Integrated Project under the 6th Framework Programme e-Inclusion initiative, partially funded by the European Commission, involving more than 50 companies’ research institutes and organizations from around Europe. The driving vision behind the ASK-IT project is to develop services based on Information Communication Technologies (ICT) that will allow Mobility Impaired people to live more independently. Through a portable device (mobile phone, PDA, tablet PC) users will have access to relevant and real-time information primarily for traveling but also while home, for work, social inclusion and leisure services. The emphasis is on a seamless service provision and devices that act intelligent enough to address the personal needs and preferences of the user.
The ASK-IT project services will be tested during the second half of 2007 and in 2008, in large scale pilots involving hundreds of people with special needs in seven plus one cities around Europe (Bucharest, Athens/Thessaloniki, Geneva, Madrid, Newcastle, Nuremberg and Helsinki with an additional pilot running in the Hague for blind people only).
ASK-IT@ Bucharest (www.ask-it.ro) is the group of companies that have voluntarily decided to be involved in the setup and implementation of the pilot in Bucharest, along with ATC ROM the Romanian company which is a partner to the ASK-IT project. For the pilot trial to be successful the need has arisen to collect accessibility information for various points-of-interest within the city of Bucharest (stations, hospitals, public buildings, hotels, etc). Comprehensive and complex questionnaires have been prepared for personnel from the General Directorate of Social Assistance of the Municipality of Bucharest (a stakeholder in the ASK-IT@ Bucharest) to visit the various sites and collect the necessary information. In order to support this survey ATC ROM decided to use PDAs to speed up the respective survey work as well as the centralization of the data collected into the relevant database.
